About the
Shelby County
Children's Advocacy
Center
The Shelby County Children's Advocacy Center is a
501 (c) 3 non-profit agency. This agency was
established in Shelby County in April 2003.  The
SCCAC is a non-profit organization and is a
member of the Children’s Advocacy Centers of
Texas. The SCCAC provides counseling and other
services to victims of molestation and child abuse
and work closely with representatives from several
local law enforcement agencies (including Child
Protective Services, the Shelby County District
Attorney’s Office, Sheriff’s Department, Center
Police Department, and mental and medical health
professionals) to optimize the investigation and
prosecution of perpetrators.  The Center also
provides courtesy interviews for Sabine, Panola,
San Augustine, and Nacogdoches Counties. Since
its establishment, the SCCAC has assisted in
investigations of nearly 300 cases of suspected
abuse.  The Center provides a neutral location and
a comfortable, child-friendly environment
where young victims can feel safe to “tell their story.”
